MORRIS, Roy Whitworth (1894-1981)
Born 30 July 1894 at Steels Creek. The fourth child of Edward Charles Morris and Margaret Clelland.
Roy gave his occupation as orchardist when he enlisted 26 January1915. He embarked on the Demosthenes 16 July 1915 and joined the Machine Gun Company 24th Battalion for service at Gallipoli towards the end of 1915. He was only there for a short time before the evacuation in December 1915. Roy later served in France where he succumbed to trench fever and was returned to England in July 1917. He left England for Australia on 21 April 1918.
Roy married Lila Collinson 12 December 1928 at Steels Creek. They had two daughters. Roy also served with the 3rd Battalion during WWII. He died 24 April 1981.
