NEWSPAPERS
The Evelyn Observer was the first local newspaper in the district. The first issue was published at Kangaroo Ground 31 October 1873. Unfortunately no early copies survive. The State Library collection dates from mid-1882.
The Lilydale Express began on 30 June 1886. Since then it has had 15 owners and it was sold to the Leader group in 1971. In May 2001 it was renamed Lilydale & Yarra Valley Leader.
The Healesville Guardian ran from 21 December 1893 to 1964 with some variations in the title. In 1964 it merged with the Healesville News to become the Healesville Review, lasting for two years.
The district is currently served by two Leader group papers: Mountain Views Mail and Lilydale & Yarra Valley Leader
